Homestead Application Process

Residential homeowners are eligible for a homestead exemption (currently a 45% reduction). Upon closing on your property, please see that your driver’s license (or State/City issued Identification) is updated to the property address, along with your motor vehicle registration (if applicable).

While completing the following online application, you will need to upload a copy of your driver’s license or identification. If you are having trouble uploading a copy of your license or identification and/or prefer to submit a paper application, you can download a paper copy here: English version | Spanish version. Alternatively, you can contact our office at 401-680-5229 or assessor@providenceri.gov and we can mail you a paper application.

In addition to needing a copy of your license or identification, you will also need the Property ID Number (PID). You can look up your PID here.
